MENGENAI ASUL-USUL DAN PEMBANGKANGAN SETAN

Beberapa ayat dalam Al Quran mengenai asal usul Setan, sifat-sifat, dan konflik dengan Allah ttg Adam (2:34, 7:11-12, 15:30-33, 17:61, 18:50, 20:116, 38:71-76, 7:11-12) sebenarnya bersumber dari Gospel of Bartholomew yang termasuk Injil Apocryphal.

Quran 7:11-12
"We said to the angels, 'Prostrate yourselves before Adam.' They all prostrated themselves except Satan, who refused to prostrate himself. 'Why did you not prostrate yourself when I commanded you?' He asked. 'I am nobler than he,' he replied. 'You created me of fire, but you created him of clay.'"

Bandingkan dengan Injil Bartholomew berikut ini:

IV:54

"And when I came from the ends of the world, Michael said to me, "Worship the image of God which He has made in His own likeness." But I said, "I am fire, of fire. I was the first angel to be formed, and shall I worship clay and matter?"

Demikian juga mengenai Adam yang raksasa di sebutkan dalam Hadist bahwa Adam itu tingginya hampir 30 meter (atau 60 cubits).

Sahih Bukhari. Vol 4, Book 55. Prophets. Hadith 543.
Narrated By Abu Huraira :
The Prophet said, "Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits tall. When He created him, He said to him, "Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting (salutations of your offspring." So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, "As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatu-l-lahi" (i.e. Peace and Allah's Mercy be upon you). Thus the angels added to Adam's salutation the expression, 'Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi,' Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam's creation.

"Then follows a series of hymns sung in heaven, eight in all, which accompany the reception of Adam and the other holy souls into glory. Adam was eighty cubits high and Eve fifty. They were brought to the Father by Michael. Bartholomew had never seen anything to compare with the beauty and Glory of Adam, save that of Jesus. Adam was forgiven, and all the angels and saints rejoiced and saluted him, and departed each to their place."
